Manage Your Comments

 Manage Your Comments

While making posts and expressing your opinion and interests on Blogger is fun, you will inevitably come across comments from people who may or may not have read your content. These comments could be nice, criticizing, or even downright mean. It is your job as the content creator to decide what stays and what leaves- for better or worse. This guide will show you how to manage comments.

The great thing about Blogger is that you are able to control who comments on your posts and what type of comments they leave. In order to set the settings, click on your blog and click "Settings" on the left hand menu that we've used before. About halfway down the settings menu there is an area named "Comments".

In this section there are a few things you're able to control. The first section, "Comment Location", lets you choose if you want responses to your post's comments. If you want to let people comment with each other under your post then leave the setting as "embedded".

The next section is self explanatory- you get to control who can comment. There is no right or wrong between "Users with google accounts" and "Anyone", however a bad choice is "Only members of this blog". Without random people commenting and giving criticism, you may never improve on your posts or writing.

"Comment Moderation" is the main setting we should tweak. If you are concerned with people commenting something gross and inappropriate, you should choose "sometimes" or "always". This is especially helpful if your Blog is family friendly, because this will for the most part stop hateful people from commenting.

In order to delete a comment or mark it as spam, it's in a different area than the settings tab. Go back to your main blog, and on the left hand menu, select comments. Under the comment you can either mark as spam or delete.
